Describe your life before you had Weight Loss Surgery.
Overweight and uncomfortable, I could barely enjoy life or play with my grandchildren. I had to give up my favorite hobbies – sewing and raised bed vegetable gardening. My crumbling vertebrae even required back surgery with steel rods. As a full-time nurse with a BMI of 41 (250 lbs), I was experiencing the worst back pain of my life. The strain on my knees had led to a knee replacement just three years prior. The tipping point? My neurosurgeon suggested weight-loss surgery.

How long were you considering Weight Loss Surgery before you came in? If you put off the decision, why did you wait? What eventually made you decide to “go for it”?
After a year of unsuccessful diets and needing back surgery, I decided to pursue weight-loss surgery (WLS).

What was it like to work with the team, from the start of your journey to today?
The first appointment went smoothly – no long wait! The doctor readily confirmed I was a good candidate for surgery to achieve my weight loss goals. Everyone was friendly, and I met the whole team. I received a clear plan with steps to take for the next stage. My coordinator’s been fantastic – I can text questions and get quick replies or calls whenever needed. From reception to scheduling surgery, the entire experience has been wonderful!

Describe your life now, after Weight Loss Surgery. What is the #1 thing you love being able to do now (that you could not do before)?
This isn’t about being number one, it’s about a new me! I can finally wear clothes that flatter my figure and confidently pose for full-length photos. Standing showers and swimming are a joy, and I don’t feel the need to hide anymore.
