Dr. Fass is proud to be one of many great surgeons at a great organization. A calming presence for all his patients, he is delighted by the lasting changes he makes to people’s lives and amazed to see patients slowly turn their nervousness into gratitude. But that gratitude is only half the bit for Dr. Fass; it’s about giving back in the best way he knows how to patients he sees as his community.
Dr. Fass is not just a surgeon; he’s both a teacher and a student – spreading and receiving knowledge everywhere he goes. Dr. Fass guarantees his patients three things: health, happiness, and confidence. Achieving great results in all three is what makes a fast recovery. He also travels the country teaching other surgeons techniques using the robotic platform for many of his surgeries. Knowing that he’s had an effect on the surgical world as a whole; is another reason Dr. Fass loves his job.
As a pioneer in bariatric surgery, he participated in the initial clinical trials for the lap band. Dr. Fass brought weight loss surgery to Austin as the first surgeon in central Texas to have performed weight loss surgery in 2002. He has done thousands of weight loss surgeries since he arrived in Austin. Dr. Fass has been recognized over 15 times by Texas Monthly Super Doctors and is in the Super Doctors Hall of Fame.
Dr. Fass has experience in a broad range of state-of-the-art minimally invasive surgeries, specializing in advanced laparoscopic and robotic surgery, bariatric surgery including sleeve gastrectomy, Lap-Band® maintenance/removal, revision surgery, and endoscopic (gastric balloon) procedures, as well as colon/abdomen/intestine surgery, hernia surgery, gallbladder surgery and GERD treatment/antireflux surgery.
He spends his free time with his wife and two boys, is an avid road biker, triathlete, and skier, and also likes to read history and travel.
